the '97 850R V70-XC70 2000

If the miles are true and the car was well maintained the 850R is the better deal, 50K miles is nothing, that engine is getting warmed up.

The '99 and newer have electronic throttle system vs cabled throttle, a common repair in '99-'00 volvos and is a dealer only repair to the tune of $1100, because it requires software download.

Also '99 and newer have electronic ignition, with no coil, distributor cap, rotor, wires, but instead individual coil packs, expensive to replace.

If you want a newer V70 go for 2001 and newer, new look and better electronic modules.
