Hose from Purge valve to Canister 850

Hey everyone - '97 850R

The hose from the EGR (purge) valve is not connected to anything. I believe it is supposed to be connected to the charcoal canister, but I can't seem to find the place where it connects. Does it connect to the white nipple on the canister? There is nothing on it right now, but there is a ridge on it and I can't fit the hose on to it.

Any suggestions?
