Are your AWD Bricks durable? V70-XC70

Hi - I am a RWD guy, but am thinking of switching to an AWD V70 or XC70. What is your sense of the durability and longevity of these cars, as compared with 740's and 940's? I have had two 740's up into the 170k miles range and they are still going strong. Do you think the newer Volvos are built as well and are as durable as the older RWD ones? I live in upstate NY where driving in snow and ice is a necessity and RWD cars don't do so well with that. Thanks.
