Sudden drop in mileage, rough running 850 1994

Last few fuel-ups have been Shell regular, I usually use just whatever is close by. Do you recommend any fuel additives to clean? I have heard both bad and good things about them.

I do have a regular 850 and recently checked/cleaned the flame trap - but how would I go about checking for vaccuum leaks - short of submergin the car underwater :)
