Blower problem V70-XC70 1998

The heat/air conditioning blower motor has stopped working on my V70. Sometimes it will come one when I initially turn the car on, but it only runs for a minute or two, and only intermittenly. I've removed the glove box and can see the moter housing and resistor. Can anyone share a thought as to what might be the cause, before I move forward. Thanks. I've not tried any repairs beyond the Haynes two wench, so I'm somewhat caution on how to proceed.
