Car lunged forward 850

1994 850T. I was sitting at a light this morning with foot on the break
at a normal idle. (Other foot was not on gas pedal).
All of the sudden the engine started reving extremely high and the
car lunged forward a couple of inches. Does anyone have any idea on
what would cause this to happen. I'm almost afraid to drive the car.
