Replacement headlight bulb V70-XC70 1998

Recently while replacing the headlight bulb on my wife's V70, the bulb got stuck in the opening and I had to apply a slight amount of pressure to loosen the bulb so that I could reseat it flush with the opening. While I was doing this, the inside headlight assembly loosened so no the assembly inside the headlight is loose and can be moved forward.
Has anyone had this happen to them and if so, how did you go about solving the problem. My thought would be to remove the outside headlight cover that is held in place by several clips so the I can access the inside assembly and apply some type of adhesive to hold it in place.
I would appreciate hearing any suggestions from anyone on how you may have solved this problem. Thanks, Fred.
