Installing a Turn signal stalk 850 1995

I was able to find a used turn signal/cruise switch but now I am wondering
if there is any issue with the steering wheel airbag?
I just got off the phone with my Indy mechanic that works on Volvo's all the time and he said there may be an issue with replacing the turn signal
switch and the airbag going off. Is this true? Do I have anything
to worry about with the airbag?
