If you can't work on the car, suggest you find a tame indy Volvo shop. We fit the new Volvo household demographics and then some, but I still do the little repairs myself. The tailgate trim repair is only a few bucks for the plastic clips. Official dealer service for just about any European import is a direct route to the poorhouse!
I'm going for my fourth windshield this spring, I'm also on my fourth cabin temp sensor and had my heater core sprang a leak for the second time. The AC evaporator is a fairly pricey repair, it takes about a day, and about $1200.
This is all typical for any Eurocar, in fact a Mercedes or BMW might be even worse. (I was looking at used Mercedes 300Es for my kid and discovered that the AC evaporator repair costs about twice as much!) If you want cheap buy a Kia, if you want trouble-free, buy a Lexus.
But my V70 still uses no oil between changes and the original clutch is only just starting to slip now.
