Car lunged forward 850

Last year my Mother's 850 Turbo did the same thing; a very scary experience having a turbo engine revving full at a light. Took it to a local Volvo dealer who said it was a stuck thermostat and a bad temp sensor. I thought they was crazy, went to the Volvo dealer New Orleans, who confirmed that was the problem and repaired it. No problems since.
