problems with '98 V70? V70-XC70

Based upon my experiances, I'd recommend that you give this purchase your most careful consideration! I've never owned a care with with more mechanical problems; bear in mind that this is for a car with 59k total miles. Here's a partial list of the problems:

Emission system failed twice @ 675.00 / occurence

Transmission stuck in park

Directional lenses fell out, plastic tabs worn out

Alternator bad

Rear main seal leaking (a very common problem

CV joint needed replacement

Directional / Hazard switch defective

Always needs alignment

Tires last about 10K miles

Ive just traded mine for an '03 Honda Pilot w/ 13k miles. I got a bumper to bumper 7/100k warranty for $845.

If you're really set on a Volvo, I'd suggest that you consider a different year. I will say that the people on this board have given me the best advice in helping me solve some of the problems myself. The posters here are very knowledgeable.

HH,
Don
