XM Radio installation question V50

I don't really expect an answer since I see no other traffic about the V50 yet, but anyway:

We already had XM in another Volvo. I had it transferred over to this new V50.

The problem is that the shop tells me the tuner & antenna lead to the stereo is in the rear of the car - therfore the antenna splitter from the XM car kit that essentially taps into the existing antenna and blocks all radio signal other than the ones coming from the XM kit FM modulator - can't reach to the back of the car.

Has anyone else put XM in the V50? Right now, it is installed without the antenna lead tapped to the existing antenanna so I am getting interference from competing stations from time to time. The sho chose a channel that had almost no interference in our town, but as I drive to bigger cities the static gets worse.

Any hints would be great. Tom
