Can I just live with a broken door stay mount? S70

The driver door stay mount that commonly breaks loose on 850/S70s has failed on my 1999 S70. It appears that instead of just the spot weld failing, the entire section of metal on the A-pillar has broken almost all the way around the mount--in other words, it appears that the weld did not fail, but the piece of metal the stay is attached to failed. Thus, it doesn't look like I can do the "bolt repair" that is commonly recommended.

When it finally breaks completely free, will I still be able to open and close the door? In other words, if I can live with the noise, can I just live with the broken stay door mount? Thanks.
