I'm afraid I can't help you on the fix. However, before you start trying to open the radio unit you need to ask yourself a question or 2. If you need to replace the radio with a volvo unit it is an exchange at the dealer with a new or remanufactured/fixed unit (think $250). If they can see it's been opened, tampered with or they think it's been opened there is no exchange and it's an outright buy of a new radio (think $600 or more). I've done this once and am looking at a 2nd time on a different car. Good luck.
