Door Lock BUZZ BUZZ 850 1997

We have a 97 855T5, with keyless entry and central locking. When locking the driver's door with the key or the keyfob, a rather loud BUZZZZZ ... BUZZZZZ is heard from the area of the door lock. The locks all work fine. The BUZZZes come after the lock rod has finished moving down.

What on earth could this be? If the lock rod moved slowly or jerkingly, or didn't move at all, it'd make sense.

I suppose I just need to pull the door panel to see what's up. Any tips on removing the door panel?
