SYNTHETIC OIL C70

When I picked up my new c70 in Sweden, I asked if they used synthetic oil.
The rep indicated that a certain percentage of Volvos were filled with synthetic oil, but seemed evasive.
Since this is a turbo, I would like to use synthetic for the extra protection
especially since the change is at 7500 miles.
Does anyone know the official position on oil ?
