'96 850 occasionally dies whilst idling, at lights, in p-lots etc 850

G'day,

Have an irritating problem with my 100K '96 850. Occasionally (no real pattern) idle seems to get erratic, shift up arrow comes on, and the engine dies. No Check engine light or codes. The shift up arrow light does not always come on when it is doing this.
Have changed... plugs, wires, dist cap and rotor. Worked fine for two days... and now is doing the same thing again. I have a decent 43psi at the fuel rail. Have read other post claiming the temp sensor could be the culprit... have checked it with a meter and all seems good and it seems to be reading fine. The vehicle does seem to do it more so after driving along at lower speeds, constant throttle... but it can also happen at freeway speeds.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Cheers,
Curly
