Ya kinda have to go on good owner history........if the car has changed hands mulitple times...stay away. If the owner was a Volvo freak like most of us ya know the car was at least "watched". I have an AWD and its GREAT in snow! If ya don't deal with snow.....stay FWD! A used AWD could mean rolling the dice much further than on a used FWD!
