Warning Light 850 1996

I have a 1996 850 Turbo Wagon with 84000 miles on it. I live in Kansas and the car is kept in a climate controlled garage, where the temperature is not below 60 degrees. However outside high today was 17 degrees. I was driving home from kansas city tonight and a light came on, on the lower right warning panel below the tach. It has an orange background, with a green triangle inside, and what looks like a black upside down "y". I have talked to a Volvo specialist and also to IPD, and they think it may be a canadian or german car, and that this is the check engine light in the old form of the Lomda Sond symbol. The car seems to be running fine, but how concerened should i be about this.

Any suggestions/information is greatly appreciated.
