My module failed and I challenged the dealer politely when I was told about the price of the job ($900). He was willing to call volvo and ask for a replacement part at no charge. He was successful and I willingly paid the labor cost of $250. The dealer told me that there is a local budget from volvo for customer loyalty and satisfaction issues that can be tapped for such purposes. My car has only 47K miles and I was loathe to replace a part at this price that failed so early in the age of the vehicle. I think these were extenuating circumstances and I got lucky by being the polite but squeaky wheel.
