Door locks in cold weather V70-XC70 1998

Last couple of days have been a bit nippy here in Boston - 5 to 10 degrees F. Two of my door locks, drivers door and passenger side rear door, stopped working with the central locking. They wouldnt' lock or unlock. They could be locked and unlocked fine manually, but not with the switch on the front doors or the keyless entry remote. I'm guessed that probably something was frozen, but putting my ear against the door, I couldn't hear any sound of the motor struggling. Could the motor itself have frozen?

This morning the temperature is up to a balmy 20 degrees, and all locks are working fine again. I'd curious to know if anyone else has experience similar symptoms in very cold weather.
