Mysterious no start V70-XC70 1998

to clarify somethings:

the battery it good... there is plenty of charge in it. I was still able to start the car the following day without rechargnig/jumping anything.

I played with several connections.. everything seemed fine. There is no corrosion on the battery. The car is super clean inside/out. The lights on the lights on the dash turn on like they're supposed to. It's just that there is no different between the II and III positions when I go to turn the car on.

latest update:
the car ran just fine up until 10 minutes ago when I wen to start in. It did it again. The car doesn't seem to recognize position III when I turn the key. The only that it will do is turn the headlights on/off when it goes from the II to the III position (of course, as normal). No crank, no nothing.

This is frustrating to the point that I might almost regert buying this thing. I don't want to regret it, I want to enjoy it.
