Power steering fluid V70-XC70

Hi Everyone:

We have had VERY cold weather here for the past week (-40F). 2 days, it warmed up above freezing and we were blessed with freezing rain. Anyways, yesterday I go to take my car out, after I have hacked off the ice (no garage for me!), and I found it -VERY- difficult to turn. Turning with speed was much easier, but navigating out of my outside-parking spot into the alley was testing my arm strength.

I noticed my tires were a little low, so I went and topped it all up, and it make a definitely improvement, but it's still not the same. When I got home, I popped the hood (which was frozen and required a tire iron to open, damn driver's side latch) and found that my PS fluid was essentially empty.

Here's the problem. I have some crappy PS fluid I grabbed at the gas station, in case it was low, but after reading the forums it sounds like not all PS fluids are equal. I don't want to dump a bunch of crap into my car only to have to flush it later.

Do I need Volvo ATF Type F fluid? Or am I get by with some a little easier to find? The Volvo dealership here is on the otherside of town, and I bet no one wants to drive me to get it, and I'd like to reduce the damage to the car as much as possible. Do you guys think there's a problem with this $15/L stuff I have? (It mentions on the label being forumlated for Ford/GM vehicles, and is kind of a snotty greeny/brown colour).

Thanks everyone!
