overfilled coolant expansion tank, do Volvos purge? 850 1994

I recently posted about finding coolant on my garage floor a couple of days after having topped off the fluid (too much; above the MAX line) when it got low. It does not appear to be leaking by the radiator anymore and the level seems to have settled between Min and Max on the expansion tank. The car was out all day yesterday and not a leak or any drop in coolant level. What gives? Do Volvos dump excess coolant for pressure reasons and that is what caused the puddle or did I really screw up by overfilling? I just don't have radiator $$ in the budget right now.

Thanks
