I changed my mind, because... S70 1998

the present owner has had the car for 2 years, and I would like to know what maintenance has he done to the car.

If he skipped the 70k miles t-belt change then that engine is on borrowed time. If the t-belt brakes, major engine damage to the tune of $3000+. I would be very careful, because skipping the t-belt change at the rec interval, tells me this guy didn't take care of the car this past 2 years. So, I would pass.

But if you really like the car, spend $100 to have the car looked over by a volvo specialist. If it gets a good report, haggle him down $500, the cost of a new t-belt, new tensioner and serpentine belt plus labor.
