Buying a V70 1998ish V70-XC70 1998

My wife is thinking of replacing her aging '89 Mercedes260E with 445K on the clock.
She'd like a Volvo SW as she need a roomier car.
I have owned several Volvo over the years (PV544, 122S, P1800, 164,740,850T)
She needs a reliable car (she does not want to know where the hood release handle is located).
I will start my search for the ideal SW in a few days. What should I be looking for, problem areas, tips, generalized problems, ownership costs. For having kept the Benz for 13 years, I know regular maintenance is a must if one wants to keep it that long. I don't mind spending money on regular maintenance, but I hate having problems and visit shops every week for all sorts of problems not related to maintenance. Is the V70 considered as a reliable car, good for at least 200K before major repairs come into play.
Thanks all.
