stalls in the heat S40-V40 1998

On a hot day after driving around for an hour or so in stop start traffic my volvo v40 (98) will not take off smoothly after stopping. back fire and struggles to get moving again. once moving no problems. eventually stops altogether. Let the car cool down for a while and the problem goes away. Engine computer does not record any faults. Have had several techs look at it. replaced - plugs, coil packs, tested Ecu No luck ! All the basic checks and inspection seem OK Has anyone had similar issues and fixed them ? Suspecting fuel pump or system but not sure.
In cooler weather - No problems.
