oil pressure light S70 1997

I have a 2000 S70 with 126,000 miles on it, no mechanical failures. TOday my oil pressure light came on. I immediately stopped to have the oil checked and it was full. THe car drives flawlwssly. How can I tell if this is a defective light or rea' problem without a huge mechanics bill? I'm a woman, so will need specific details if your advice is a "home" remedy. THanks a million!!!
