Broken strut tower weld 850 1993

Hello, My passenger side strut tower has a broken weld. The "crack" is where the tower meets the Side quarter panel/fram-sub maybe. My car has 288k miles so it is old, but I want to keep my car. I really liKe it. Is this dangerous to ignore? or can I just go on all the same? I don't mind fiXing it if it is dangerous, but woUld rather not spend a lot of money on an unnecessary repair. Could a guy with a welder just weld it back together? Or would it burn, melt wires hidden in that area? How could this have ever Cracked? I will take a picture tomorrow and see if I can post it.

Thanks Jeffla
