S40 Console Removal S40-V40 2001

Just went through the sam problem.
- Remove the trim around the gear shift handle (pops out)
- Undo 2 screws that separate front part of console to the back half.
- Open CD storage cover. On the bottom is small rectangular cover that hides 2 more screws.

Your plastic lighter holders are likely broken. Some epoxy glue shoud fix the stuff.
