Air filter observations S70 2000

I can only conpare K&N to OEM flat filters. The K&N beats the OEM by a mile and gas milage is better also. But the air filter should have little bearing on the oil being clean/dirty, unless there is significant dirt bypassing the filter and your rings start wearing down. Most of us drive on paved roads so the particulate matter is going to be very small, and the oil on the filter helps trap those. Just remember to change the filter more often, you cannot "bang" the dust out of a K&N like we used to do with the dry paper filters :)
