Coolant Leak S80 1999

My '99 T6 was leaking quite a bit of coolant a few months ago. I would refill the expansion tank every 4 or 5 days. I could not find the source of the leak being every hose is tough to visually inspect. I figured it must be the water pump leaking through the weep hole($300.00 + to R/R). Since the car has 96K on it I decided I would wait another 5K and have the timing belt R/R also. Presto, the leak has since stopped! Does anybody have an idea what happened to my leaking S80? How could it just stop? Thanks, just a bit curious...
