Throttle Control Module S80

Can someone advise more information on the Throttle Control Module?

What is its function?

Where is it located?

Is it an electro-mechanical device? i.e. have a mechanical flap or some-such that I can clean and it will be restored to normal operating condition?

Is it possible that the electrical connectors on the device are a bit corroded after 5 years of life and can be cleaned and re-connected and the device will be restored to normal operation?
