1995 850 losing compression on starting 850 1995

I have a 1995 854 GLT Auto Trans. (non-turbo) in the past it has had a problem with losing compression on starting. I've heard of this problem on other 850 and have done what the volvo dealer recomends of holding it in the start position until it catches and then running it at high RPM's for several miles.... and then changing the oil. However, the problem would occur 2 to 3 more times again and I would go through the same procedure. It has now been several months since this has happened but I would like to know if there is a REAL fix to the problem over the half-a$$ fix Volvo the dealers recommend. Any information would be much appreciated.....
