A6 Code 850

I had the same code on my wife's 94 850 non-turbo and I couldn't make it go away until I took the EGR valve off and cleaned the carbon out of it. Taking it off (which can be done without removing the starter contrary to what my Haynes manual says) also allows you to completely clean the hole in the throttle body where the EGR mounts. If you tried to clean the hole without removing the EGR valve I doubt you got all the carbon out.
