Rear Engine Seal 850 1996

Thanks a bunch. Being in school and splitting my time between upstate NY and Maryland means I don't really have time to do it until May at the ealiest. it's looking like I'm going to have my indie do it over spring break. I just hope it costs more in the range of $550 and not $1100. also, the car has 101k on it. is this foreboding for the future of the car?

is there anything you would definitely recommend getting replaced (seal-wise) while he's in there (in addition to the volvospeed posting)?
