'Brake assist service required' in message center !! V70-XC70 2003

OK I drove the wagon into a parking lot and parked, everything was normal. Then I got back in started it up and backed out the parking slot. When I turned around and looked forward what greeted me but this message "brake assist service required". The brakes felt the same as ever, nothing was different, but I stopped as soon as I could, stopped the engine and peeked under the hood. Everything looked normal, no loose parts, disconnected hoses, brake fluid was full, etc. Got back in, restarted and the message was gone! What is going on?
