Hard steering after hitting a curb 850 1995

Hi all:

I recently slid on ice onto a curb at about a 30 degree angle. Immediately after this, the steering became hard. Now, at a full stop, you can feel the power steering assisting in turning the wheel. In motion, however, there are problems in that the car will not turn back to center after completing a turn. You can no longer drive the car with one hand at the wheel. I took the car to have this checked. The mechanic found no damage except for the car needing to be aligned. No leaks, squeals, vibrations, or noises. Just hard steering.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance for help here.
