Hit deep pothole .. Dented steel rim .. . 1998 S70

Hello all,

I was driving along in Salem, Massachusetts and didn't see the very deep pothole on the right. It sounded like a big bang when we hit it. Didn't notice it since it was snowing and it was at night. Pulled over to the side and the rear tire was leaking. Upon closer inspection I noticed the steel rim was dented where the air was coming out. Upon further inspection at home I noticed that the front hubcap was cracked and the rear one was gone. I inspected the front lip and the rocker panel and everything else seemed okay. It is good that what I have on the car are the snow tires with steel rims.

Questions:
1. What other things could have been affected by this? What else should I have checked?
2. Is it possible to have the city pay for the damage to the rim and anything else that could have been affected?

Thank you all in advance.

P.S. I went back to retrieve the other hubcap and checked the pothole. It was roughly 1.5 ft wide, 3.5 feet long, and between 8 to 10 inches deep.
