AC Problems May not be the Evaporator 850

Sounds very worth checking into, as other hoses can go sour after a similar time.

Did you do some kind of leak test (such as a dye test) that pointed to the hoses as the source of the leak? If you did, and some dye showed up, was it at a specific point, like near a fitting? Was there a crack or weak spot?

In my case I lose most of the R134 after about a month. I used dye and found none anywhere under the hood. I did not look at the evaporator but assumed the leak must be there since I couldn't find it anywhere else. I spilled a little of the dye and it is very bright under a blacklight at night - I don't think it would be easy to miss.

But I wonder if a slow leak might not leave much dye residue.

Have people who replaced hoses, evaporators, etc., used dyes successfully to find where the leaks were?
