Recommended O2 sensor replacement interval 850

Volvo recommends replacing 02 sensors at 100,000 miles. The other response in incorrect. What you describe is suspicious for sensor failure as the engine runs richer and richer, mpg falls off and the exhaust will develop an ascrid smell. A failing sensor will eventually set a DTC and turn on your CEL but often not right away. Other causes for a rich condition are vacuum leaks and a bad ECT sensor
