Service Indicator Light - Does anyone out there work for Volvo? S80 2000

The issue I have is that the service light on my 2000 S80 comes on within the regular 7500 mile intervals. Previously, putting the key at “I” and then holding in the trip odometer reset and putting the key to “II” worked. There was a beeping sound that signaled a successful reset and the service light went out. Now, my car has over 90K miles on it and I recently did all of the services as per my owners manual once again. I am unable to reset the light anymore. Took it to the dealer for something else and asked them to reset the light, unless it was indicative of an issue other than regularly scheduled maintenance. I have my receipts, and am having some discussions back and forth due to the fact that they don’t want to reset the light since they did not do the service and are concerned with the liability in the event that something happens. If I ask to have the service indicator diagnosed and it is in fact a reminder with no measurable deficiency as its cause, then I would expect to have it reset. What is the manufacturers policy regarding this issue? Is it isolated to this dealership or is it the policy nationwide to not reset service lights? Anyone know?
