Leaking Transmission 850 1994

Hello,

My transmission has been leaking pretty badly and is getting worse. I placed some stop leak in it and of course it does not work. I have been driving it in this condition on mostly short trips the last 2 weeks adding fluid as I go and with the fluid top off it runs fine but is requiring more each time. I took it to a shop and the guy showed me all the blowback underneath. He says it could be just the seal but will only know after taking it down. I am looking at about $1000.00 if it is just the seals. A co-worker suggests I find a used one and he would assist me putting it in but has not done one on anything other than his Chevy. How difficult is it to install a transmission on this car? Ebay has one from a 850 wagon for $500.00. Does anyone know if this transmission is the same or have any other suggestions? I replaced the PNP switch last month and it was then that I realized I had a leak. I am told the switch was most likely good and I just wasted my money on it.

Thanks,
Carl
