car wont start right away 850 1996

Some times my car wonts start on the first try if i turn the key a few more times it will start eventualy. I thought that i needed a new battery but realized that it wasnt after i replaced the battery and still had the problem the problem usually happens when i am starting the car alot like running here and there. If the car sits for a few hours it starts right up. I was wondering what was wrong with my car and how to fix it.
