Yes, that would be more than enough to cause it.

Read the fault code out as you did, continue reading codes out until it flashes the first code it flashed a second time. If you have just the one code stored then flash it out twice, after the second time it has flashed the code press down and hold the button down for 5 seconds, release the button, when the light comes back on in 5 seconds press and hold the button for another 5 seconds. So it will be 5 on, 5 off, 5 on. Press it again to recheck and it should flash a 111 code, all clear.
