Throttle Body Assembly on 2000 S80 - T6

On C/S/V/XC70's '98-'01 as well as S80's of the same years the Magneti Marreli Electronic Throttle Modules were used (Volvo commissioned this subsidiary of Fiat to make it for them). These modules WILL ALL FAIL at around 60K (-/+ 20K) and has become a huge issue. Volvo won't cover it and they reinstall the same very poorly designed POS that will fail again in your car's future. Actually what you were quoted for the replacement is very reasonable. Most people are paying $1000+ at the dealer just for this replacement.

A retired engineer/quality control secialist from Rockwell International (ie: Airplane company) by the name of Don Willson is heading up a "class-action" concerning this very issue. His group's name is called VEXED (Volvo Enthusiasts eXposing Egregious Design). You can write him at VEXEDVolvo@comcast.net
You can also go to the forum where the issue with the Electronic Throttle Body is being discussed. It is here: http://www.volvoxc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=6026&page=2&pp=10
If you can get the bad Throttle Module from the mechanic who changes yours out, Don would very much like to have it as part of his evidence against Volvo.

Anyway, I thought I would pass this along. I bought the '98 S70 for the sole purpose of avoiding this issue.
