Alternator Help 850

First, do anyone have a good set of instructions to remove the alternator? I have read it's easy from the top with the Power Steering pump pushed aside. I have also read from the bottom is better.

Second, I have further read that simply replacing the regulator is very simple and should be considered if this is the only thing wrong.

The symptoms are below:

It began by charging low (11v) and drained the battery a few times. I thought the battery may be bad, but neglected to replace it. Then it apparently started charging to high and boiled the battery. When I replaced the battery, it was charging at 18-19v and boiling over. I ordered a alternator and in the meantime it is now charging again at about 10-11v.

Does that sound like to regulator? alternator? or both? Thanks in advance.
