car wont start when warm 850

i have a 96 volvo 850 and it doesnt seem to like to start in the heat on the day or sometimes after running a few errands. somtimes i can get it to start if i open the hood and let it cool off. when it wont start the car makes no noises and doesnt crank. i dont think its the PNP swithch and i have just replaced the battie. once the car starts it runs fine. does anyone know whats wrong with my car.
