air flow meter (1996 850 glt) 850 1996

Hello all

could some one tell me how to test my air flow meter using a volt meter. Its a Bosh (0 280 217 107 1 275 749) meter. I did find information on this site as to how to test the meter with the ignition turned on and a volt meter but I was a bit confused. I am assuming you have to test the meter while it is connected with the ignition on. The reading should be between pins 2 and 3? and the voltage should be? Any help would be appriciated since im about to dump 150 into my 850 and I dont really know if its the air flow meter. I have an intermittant idle surg problem (occurs about 1x / every hour of driving and usually towards the end of the drive. I also noticed that when i gun the engine in neutral it seems to missfire as the revs are comming down towards idle (this is not intermittant). The car has yet to triger a code. Thanks for any help.

Eric
