Not to beat a dean horse, but there are two other points that occur to me. First, every Volvo dealer that has been in existence for more than a year should be aware of cutoff dates for maufacturing in a model year. And Volvo should be clearly communicating this 'date', and I would find it astonishing that either don't know what it is.

Second. if Volvo doesn't intend to comply, in a general sense, to manufacture made-to-order cars, then they need to do away with the "Build Your Own" feature on their website. This is a strong implication that if you're willing to wait and perhaps pay MSRP, you should be able to get what you want within the parameters given.
